5 spd boxes??

howdy folks
looking at replacing my bro's 5 speed manual DUK box mated to AJM engine (PD), but can I use any 5 speed TDI box, I appreciate some ratios may differ but for example the EEN box that is in my AFN (VE) engine was also fitted to the b5.5 PD's?
