1.8T PCV Cleanout

Post by Alex W »

I did this job yesterday - argh! What a horrible, dirty, awkward job that was. I managed to get all the pipes off and they were extremely gunked up so I gave them a good clean in hot soapy water with the help of a toothbrush. I haven't used the car much since but it does seem smoother and the idle is better, or so it seems. I suspect the blocked pipes wern't helping. I replaced the plastic elbow that exits the block - this broke as predicted.

I also changed the oil and filter - Castrol RS 5W 30 and used a large Mann filter.

The car has an issue where it holds back at top end (possiblty there since it was remapped?) and it's been throwing up a S2 lambda code, so I changed that aswell. That was very awkward to change!
