Expensive problem: Clutch/Gearbox

Hey Guys,
I'm starting to have another problem with my Passat. I'm sure it was cursed as it left the production line!
Anyway, I am hearing a very heavy knocking sound which I can feel through my clutch pedal as I try to hit the biting point. It only happens in low gears. The performance of the car is as normal. However the vibrations/noise is starting to sound very expensive! Has anyone hear had this problem before?
I have a 1.9tdi 130 on a 52plate. Shes done 106k now.
