Bonnet release catch grommet

Has anyone ever replaced the grommet that is in the scuttle that the bonnet release catch wire runs through? If so how do you do it? Where do you disconnect wthe wire from I.e is it from the bonnet catch under the bonnet or the release from the inside or that lil grey box under the bonnet half way across the wire?
