505.01 Vs 507.00

Following on from this... viewtopic.php?f=8&t=78393&p=637384#p637384

I hear so much my head hurts, higher additive package , zinc, phosphorus, emissions , heat range, viscosity, shearing, film strength, protecting dpf (B6) , camshaft wear, unit injectors, high loadings, lower additive package , soot loading, fuel economy, 5w 40 , 5w 30 , LongLife service intervals , variable and fixed servicing , the older LongLife spec 506.01 0w 30 .

I just want to know which to use, why and if 1 is better at protecting the camshaft or they're too similar to call ? Or are they indeed made of chocolate and the best oil in the World won't save ?

At some point I'll invite Tim ( oilman ) from Opie Oils to comment.
Opie Oils have the benefit of some forums sending in used oil for analysis this gives tremendous feedback to oil quality, specs and brands.
