Pressed metal plates / surrounds - opinions please

I have just put my private plate on my B5.5 Passat estate, as the retention certificate was about to run out.

It used to be in my truck (L200 DNG) so isnt massively suited to the car but still.

I'm going to get some road legal pressed metal plates to funk it up a little so wanted to ask the opinions of you lot.

Do I go plain plates or with the GB logo ?

Do I just affix the plate to the car or get a plastic surround that they sell ?

If I get a surround do I get a plain one or one with writing on it ? (They do various different styles)
