10" wide on the back?

I've got a set of 8.5x18 merc amg splits on my b5.5. I found that you can get these staggered 10" on the back. The 10's have an offset of 25.
Has anybody fitted these and if so how much modding was required and what size tyres do you recommend?
Any help would be great. I don't really want to buy them to find out that they don't fit.
