help! 2 inches of water on the floor! it just got worse

got a major leak in my B5 wagon and it`s not the front weep holes, had them checked and cleaned last week. regularly getting up to 2 inches of water on floor behind drivers seat. my mechy reckoned it must be the door card seal
(he hasn`t had a look yet, he got married this week-inconsiderate sod!)
so last night I put a bin bag around lower/inner rear door making sure the lower edge of bag sat on lower cill so should have let out any water from under side of door- and this morning, guess what, well, it would be 2 inches of water but for the fact I`ve got a bath towel on the floor trying to absorb the last soaking.
any ideas would be greatly appreciated.


if the above wasn`t enough, I get in today and the drivers window leccy button has jammed solid
OR---- does this mean the leak is indeed from the drivers door card/seal and running back into the rear footwell?
