V71 replacement and airbag removal

Post by RUM4MO »

Right, I've finally got round to looking to see if I can replace V71 flapmotor without removing the dashboard.

I've found where the motor actually is but now I need to remove the passenger side airbag so that I can get the fan motor out and see why the flap motor/linkage is not working (I know that I can force the motor out but will probably crack the fan drum if I try this with teh airbag still in place), but Haynes "says" as well as removing the battery and waiting maybe 30 minutes (or holding the battery terminals together), when refitting the airbag, first switch ignition on > then plug in the airbag > then reconnect the battery - is that all correct? Another thing, do I just need to remove the 4-off airbag support bracket bolts - I am asking this as Haynes "says" to remove the dash hinged cover first?
