How to change a brake light switch B5.5 130tdi

Hi, I am getting lots of warning lights coming up esp, abs, glow plugs flashing and also saying engine workshop and abs fault. I understand that this is actually a fault with the brake light switch.
I have bought a new brake light switch, however I am not sure how to fit it. I have looked near the brake pedal and I cant see the old one so i presume it is behind all the plastic trim. I am a bit nervous trying to take away the trim as its my mothers car and I am unsure how to do it.
Could anyone explain how I need to do it or give me a link to a "how to guide"?

Please be patient, I have only ever had old 4x4s which only require a hammer and a welder to fix things!
