NO ACCELERATOR, PLEASE HELP

Hi chaps,

My Passat has gone dead, dont know whether or not its anything to do with the rain we are having...? But came to drive my Passat home tonight, its starts fine, but when you put your foot on the accelerator pedal nothing happens. It doesnt rev or anything. The engine just 'ticks' over as normal, however the revs seem to be slightly higher than normal when idle, just over the 1k mark. I have also noticed that after the engine has been running for a minute or so, the coil / diesel start light, starts flashing?

Any ideas what may be wrong? Could this be anything to do with the MAF sensor? Mines a tdi AFN 110bhp engine.

I have had to leave my car where it is for the time being and will attend to it tomorrow, if theres no joy i will call the AA out.
