Getting into my car?

Hi,
Today i went to use my b5 tdi and found the battery was dead
I removed the battery to charge it in the house but had to go out, so took my other car removed battery on passat and left charging. Locked all doors and checked key was working etc before going out- it was.
Got back, battery charged so took it out to fit back in car and i can't openthe doors, none of the doors will work with the key so i can't open the bonnet and put the battery back in!
The only thing that will open is the boot and from there, there is no way in to the car!
Any ideas? i need the car urgently tomorrow as the wife has a hospital appointment quite far away and will not be happy if i suggest we take my AX!
