PD130 De Cat down pipe prototype

Post by chimp » Sat Feb 28, 2009 3:16 pm

Hello all.

I have just finished fitting a stainless de cat down pipe to the sat. I had the first prototype on there for a while but there was a clerance issue with the gearbox mount, the pipe has now been re made and the second prototype fits on a treat.

The main pipe is 2.5" after the flexible and makes the engine rev better and the turbo spool a little faster, you also get a nice turbo wistle :D .

The company I was test fitting it for is thinking of putting it into prodection some time this year so if anyone is interested I will keep you all posted.

I will see if I have any photos I can post up later.

I'm not sure on the price as the final spec is not 100% confirmed but more on that below.

As for smoke and smells I think it depends on you map mine has beens remapped so get a little bit of smoke.

I have a few questions people might beable to help with, does the PD130 and PD115 have the same turbo flange also is the exhaust set up on the B5 the same as the B5.5. One last thing do newer modles have a sencor in the down pipe.

Thanks all.

110, 115 and 130 all have the same Cat, have a home made bypass on my 130 which I transferred from my old 110, the turbo seems to spin up a little earlier, only downside is a whistle from the exhaust when sitting with the engine idling, early cars have cat then link pipe, on later ones its one piece hope that info is of use.

Just found this pic of the MKI pipe that needed to be altered but it gives you an idea what it is like.

As this was the first one it had not been polished so looks a little dull.

The problem with the Passat is the clearance around the gearbox mount. I'm sure you could get one made at a local fabricator but I would think it will cost you a few quid. I not even sure what the stainless tube, flexi and flanges would cost you.

I would be interested to know how much somewhere would charge for a one off.

you can get all the parts off ebay to weld together and make one any exhaust place can make them up a few years ago i had one made for a mk3 golf cost me £40 just a flange, flexi and bit of stainless that was fitted as well but the company isn't there now they also did a custom backbox for £130 they were performance exhaust builders for alot of rally track and motorsport companies rather than your pretty powerflow type exhausts called tube torque in maclesfield

Probly about the average, just take it to a custom exhaust place like longlife
