AVF egr map out

Is it possible to map the egr out on an 1.9tdi AVF without having to get a full remap done. I have a cable and laptop. I was thinking about this as much as a remap would be nice I m not sure I really want one. I think with the egr mapped out the car would spool a wee bit better and also better mpg. Any pointers be really cool
