130sport PDI Engine judders when cold

Hi all,
I hope someone can point in the right direction with my issue.
I have a 2002 Passat Sport Estate 130 PD. 175K miles.It is serviced by an independent garage, for the bits I cant do myself.
After a recent service (Oil / filters inc. FUEL filter) and rear pads / disks, the car now has developed a judder as if it was going off a cylinder when driving from cold, and the amber traction control light comes on.
If you stop and switch car off and re-start, ( or maybe as it has warmed up) the light clears and the car drives smoothly and pulls well as normal.
Has anyone ever seen this before, that could point me in the right direction for what I can check?
I have a basic code reader, but when I read the codes there are none stored. I guess as this because the fault may be related to ABS / brakes?
