Pollen Filter & ECU Housings Reseal.

Post by Gazwould »

There is no escape, our aging Passats have deteriorated water seals.

My ingress isn't horrendous due to the plenum drain bungs being completely removed 15 months ago, but a wet front and rear passenger side nevertheless, drivers front unchecked.

Metal inner door card seals are doing there job for the minute, tested with a watering can.

I've read through the thread info here but want the latest take on this.

Do I buy both the sealing cord and the foam gasket ?
Do I apply extra sealant to a new cord ?
Forget a new cord and just apply a load of sealant ?
What sealant, mastic, silicone, have seen Tiger Seal but regard this as a bit too permanent as it's removal is industrial ?

What's the score with the ECU housing , same ?

I don't want to get stuck so will be investing in some windscreen wiper pullers.

And if you haven't done it yet, along with the plenum drain bungs, it is a MUST .
