B5.5 TDI Engine Mounts

Post by fluke » Wed Nov 08, 2017 4:22 pm

Are B5.5 engine mounts handed?

EG: Left and right? I read somewhere the only difference is a shield on one side to protect from exhaust temps.

nah theyre identical as far as im aware, ill check part numbers.

VW call them hydromounts (or something like that) so it may be that the fluid in them are rated at certain weights on either side to balance the placement of the engine.

i've sent for a pair after my day out the other day. The vibration is getting steadily worse on hard acceleration, I'll fit them soonest, they are scheduled to be here tomorrow.
If anyone has driven A rear wheel drive car with a worn propshaft centre bearing, well it's like that. The other suggestion was a worn inner cv joint, which will be the next port of call. Actually, I don't mind these replacements, they would all be done sooner or later in cars of this age, and for me anything that improves my driving pleasure is a plus. Still haven't put my fmic on yet but all is here ready, just waiting for a delivery of energy :esm
