Central locking damage

Post by Herbiedog »

Does anyone know any businesses or people in the preferably in the Swindon area who are or is a specialist in central locking?

I bought a b5.5 estate at the weekend from a dealer and have now discovered that central locking doesn't work, the near side doors won't lock, when I try to lock the hazards activate for a short time afterwards. I paid a mechanic to look at it and he's said there is a lot of damage to the locking mechanism (I've been working so haven't seen it in daylight, my missus has) in that instead of removing fixings to remove parts they have been prised out, damaged and some not replaced. Dealer says he's sorry, when I questioned him and ales him for advice he said 'the main thing is to get the door lock fixed, seems that something connected to the button has come adrift?' And text me an eBay item number for a door lock actuator. I'm biding my time a bit with him pending the outcome of a proper quote to resolve the issue.
