Holy belt snap batman!!

Coming home from work today and I heard a noise followed by the "ALTERNATOR WORKSHOP" error message and a complete lack of power steering.

I took a look in the engine bay after I had limped home to find that my alternator belt was shredded, so I cut what was left of the belt and removed it to look for any further damage. Couldn't see anything obvious apart from the alternator pulley seems to have made a bid for freedom (pics below)... Anyone have a rough idea of what it would cost to get this sorted? The garage I use is about 2 miles away, would I be able to drive there without causing any further damage?
