Some weeks ago,the water in my header tank was contaminated with oil.Head gasket of course,though the engine was running normally.So I brought in a VW mobile mechanic.Because there was no water in the oil,and none of the usual head gasket signs,he suggested the oil cooler was leaking and changed same.Now a couple of weeks later,the oil is back in quantity,engine is still perfect,and still no oil in the water.Please tell me there is an alternative to the head gasket.Engine is AVB with 193,000,on the clock.Many thanks men.
