What to check on a 1.8t I'm going to see

I have found a nice 1.8t that I'm 99% going to buy subject to the usual passat checks (electrics,servo etc) but I'm not sure about what to check on the 1.8t (It's done 170'000 miles which may be little high?)
Can someone give me a couple of idea's of checks other than the normal mayo in engine, heavy breather type stuff (b.t.w I am going to fault scan it before and after a test drive)
