Similar problem to justin31's thread but dint want to hijack.
My temp sensor played up as gauge would go down to nothing and come back when it felt like it! So changed the sensor and since then the car has been running cold. (W reg 1.8T)
Temp gauge never gets above the cold/mid section (the vertical white lines) not even in traffic.
Results showing 26mpg up to a max of 31 mpg of mixed driving.
What should I be looking at?
An air lock maybe?
