1.8 20 V Automatic B5 estate, year 2000, APPROACHING 70,000 MILES.
Climate control seems to be getting erratic. In some weather the only way to cool the car with windows shut is to use AUTO combined with temperature LO.
That is not really practical in Winter months when air con needed to dry the air for demisting.
The Haynes Manual cops out and refers to "see VW Service" which is fine for those who can cope with an organisation which charges like a wounded buffalo.
Is there any service place suitable for sorting out Climate Control problems , located roughly in South Manchester region?
Are there any VW agents who have a good track record for dealing with air con troubles?
Do the VW agents have a magic electronic box for connecting to the car and producing a list of faulty components?
I regret that I have not been able to detail symptoms but they do not seem consistent and repeatable.
I really liked owning this car from new - it has given good service and apparently no rust.
But it may not be economic to repair major climate control problems.
