Hi all,
Just passin' on something I have come across whilst pulling me hair out tryin to get to the bottom of my fuel and temp gauge intermittently working.
Anyhoo, if you have an intermittently working fuel and temp gauge (my oil and coolant LED's were intermittent too!) - try this
Remove your dash clockset
Remove the plastic clear front
Carefully remove the clock (or rev counter)
You should see a small transistor (it is the voltage stabiliser) about 1cm square - with three soldered legs attached to the main circuit board up in the top right corner of the clockset. It is screwed to a metal heatsink too.
If you inspect the soldered connections carefully - I fould that two of the legs had hairline cracks where they joined to the main circuit board - causing the intermittent operation
Just run a soldering iron (or get someone who has one! ) over the legs and resolder the joints
My gauges work perfectly now
This may not be the case for some of you but you never know - dont go replacing that clockset just yet!
Sorry no pics but if I can, I will try to get some posted
Keep them B3's rollin'
