How close are B3s and B4s?

How close are B3s and B4s?

Mechanically especially? Despite it's poverty-spec, I love my B3 wagon, but I've not bonded with my B4 TD anywhere near as well. Thing is, 15-20mpg more out of the B4's AAZ motor is persuading me I need to keep it! Plus the much higher spec with electric windows, power steering etc makes it a more sensible proposition for a daily driver.

So I had a bit of a mad idea...

How about taking all the running gear out of the front of the B4 (engine, gearbox, steering rack) and dropping them into the B3? Then swapping the electric windows and sunroof, and finally sticking on the GT bodykit I've had for a few months to create a B3 GTD? B) :shock:

How easy is it to do, and is there any point?
