b3 estate electric window help

hi,

recently bought a b3 passat gt estate and its pretty good fun!

when i got it the rear electric windows didn't work. if you pressed either the front set of switches or the ones for the rear, you could hear the relays clicking in that control, box under the seat. then last week i drove home and the fronts were still working, next day... nothing works!

i got another control box out of a scrapyard, so can't guarentee it works, but it didn't solve my problem. looked for a fuse and there is only a 20amp one which is fine. could it be a relay at the fuse box? if so which should i be looking to replace?

any other clues as to why it happened overnight?! i'm not great with electrics, but for the whole thing to go wrong would imply something from a source point of view. ie fusebox end? the control box doesn't click like it did for the rear windows either now, which is another reason why i suspect that its not the problem.

any help would be appreciated!
