Window Clamping Strip

HI, I thought the driver's side window mech had broke on my 96 tdi estate.But on investigation I found the metal clamping strip on the bottom edge of the window has rusted away, almost completely !!! I've rung my local Main Stealer & they told me it's obsolete !! Great !!!

So, does anyone have one or is breaking a car? Mine has electric windows but I would have thought the clamping strip is the same. It's a metal U profile strip with rubber insert which holds the bottom edge of glass that I'm looking for.

I thought I'd ask here before looking at other VAG cars in local scrappy !!
