Before and after dyno are very handy .

Do not discount a mobile remapper , some of these generic remaps are regularly updated and fine tuned .

Looking at my dyno graph done several months later , a more expensive custom rolling road remap could not better my result .

Fcbsoci I'm toying with the idea of having my avf tdi sport wagon done ,
I'm not to sure what route to go down ,
i.e getting it done by Simon at ccctech or buying the lead and downloading a map from blacksmoke and having a go myself ,(everyone on the passat forum recons it's easy)
the downside to this is if you don't know what your doing then you can brick your ecu
I'm interested to know if the maps from both company's are the same or which one is the smoother map ,

I think they both offer two kinds of map , 1 around 163 bhp and another around 175 bhp , the higher is often one with reduced torque ( less than 280 lbft ) to protect the clutch.

My 175 bhp reduced torque remap was so smooth it cured 1st stages of clutch slip and when dyno'd the print out gave a desirable broad flat torque curve.

Very much the same as before , maybe a few mpg better , 58 mpg was common for long journeys and once I saw 63 mpg .

This was brought more down to earth by 1" bigger wheels with 235 45 17 tyres , there is both a gearing affect which made the speedo more accurate from the previous underead combined with a bit more unsprung mass and rolling resistance from wider tyres .

Probably more like around the 54 mpg mark although I'm not sure what last year's summer figures were it was so long ago , lol .

At the moment from cold to 5 mins urban driving sees 30 - 36 mpg .

Egr is disabled.

Cheers for the info ,I'm
defo going to get mine done with mpg like that , the best I've ever had out of my sport wagon is 55mpg , but it's usually around the 50mpg on a motorway run of 226 mile , it doesn't seem to make any difference if I drive like miss daisy or flat out ,

What sort of cost does the remap incur?
