mine was done by simon

1.8 20v n/a
125bhp - 137bhp

gave the car a lot better power delivery, lot smoother thru the rev range, been spot on ever since

still ok even with the replacement engine

How are you getting on with the 110bhp Re-map Ant?

Contacted Simon for some info, as R-Tech just bumped their prices back-up, so not much difference with cost once I've factored in having to travel down to R-Tech, while CCC Tech are happy to do it from my home/work place!

Thanks Ant,

Keep forgetting to ask you where you got the Merc maf from and price? Is it a straight swap?

Will get my finger out and get this sorted first.

Cheers.

PS. Is there a Forum discount with CCC Tech?

what difference does having a different MAF make to the tuning? I don't actually know what a MAF does lol but as i'm thinking of a remap anyway, would it better with an improved/updated mass air thingy or....basically pros and cons pls!

adams24 may be better advice ...but on our cars it helps pick up , not as jerky ..lot smoother through the gears and power range and seems to have more top end too...oh plus they last a damn site longer than the vw mafs...

Asked Simon the same question mate, as waiting for an up-to-date price from 'Adamss24' on here about Merc MAF, says it doesn't have to be put on beforehand, so presume it doesn't make any difference to the actual remap.

Had my old bus chipped up in 2006.
It needed a new chip soldering into the ecu.
All done on my kitchen table :)
Fitted a forge diverter valve at the same time.
Still going well. Chipped at 80k; car is on 120k now.
Apart from ruining clutches I have had no bother at all.
Fuel economy improved on average by a couple of mpg .
I added a jetex exhaust which certainly has helped :)
I *have* to use proxy r's to prevent 'wideness' in wet corners and roundabouts.
I love it so much I've kept it through 3 family car changes and use it while the missus has the new one (although the latest seat leon tdi is quite fun).
Not even all the laquer peeling off has made me want to get rid.

Very pleased and would certainly recommend :D
The battered but dearly beloved sleepy 1998 passat 1.8t sport.
Upsolute chip.
forge divertor
jetex exhaust.
