anyone know of a good replacement for the front calipers on a 74 Passat
looking for an upgrade because originals are very expensive if you can find them?

I think that anything that would fit a Mk1 Golf would likely fit. Mk1 GOlf stuff fitted fine to my Passat B2

Part numbers for the front callipers are different between those with discs measuring 239x10 and 239x12, so to be sure of the right one you need to measure or know the thickness of your discs.

That said it looks as if the 10mm disc was only for the Sedan, model L.

Whereas the 12mm disc was for the Estate & Sedan, models, S, LS, LE, TS, GLS, GLE.

It might still be wise to check first.

Once you know which you are seeking, the part numbers can be identified and possibly cross referenced to other models.

One last thought. Do you think you could refurbish them yourself? If so, a seal kit might be a good way to keep costs down.
