83 b2 gl5 radio live/power problems (need help)

hi, I recently removed an old knackered cd player from my girlfriends gl5 to put a nice new one in but after fitting the new one there was no power. I tried putting the old one back in and still no power and have now found there's no power to cigarette lighter either. all fuses in the fuse box are fine and I've googled it as much as I can but still cant find nothing to help. im thinking there must be an inline fuse somewhere? but I've traced the wires as far as I could and cant seem to find anything. it does say in the Haynes manual that some cars had inline fuses but I've studied the wiring diagrams and still cant find one! HELP please
