Having purchased a pretty old, but good looking, Passat Saloon 2 litre auto. With 40,000 genuine mileage it has developed a couple of problems, which I have been able to deal with.
All has been well for the last 6 months, but now the car has a condition that even the Main Dealer in Norwich UK cannot fix (or cant be bothered)
If I lock the car with the key fob, doors lock, hazards flash and the alarm is set.
However, the wife noticed that the hazard lights flashed about 4 times randomly, about an hour after I had locked the car. I thought she might have seen things.(how wrong)
In the morning a flat battery and the neighbour got home late and said he saw the hazards flashing.
Locked the car with the key instead, same happened.
Changed battery, no change.
Reset system as stated elsewhere on forum, no change.
Took the car to local garage, who had it for a week. No change.
Took it to the main dealership, who also had it for a week, they suggested I take it to a auto electrician.
Any ideas anyone? please!
Can I disconnect the alarm bit and still have the central locking operate?
Any advice would save me pulling my hair out and going completely bald.
