Engine cutting out.

Post by porkpie1978 » Tue Dec 04, 2018 6:03 pm

Hi all, I'm a newbie here, so please don't rip me to shreds straight away.

I have a couple of problems with my 2003 1.9 TDI.
Normal cold starting is perfect, cant fault it. If I drive to the petrol station which is about a mile away from a cold start, it wont restart at all. I have to wait for the orange "coil" looking light on the dash to come on before it will start. Not sure if this is a fuel problem or immobiliser issue.

The other problem is that recently, I'd be driving along from a cold or warm start and the engine will just die without warning. No jerking or spluttering, just stops. I thought that it may be the fuel filter.... possibly?

Any help from you Passat gurus would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for reading

Dave

Anything is a guess without the car being read for fault codes.

There are people here who can help you with this, depending upon your location.

First you need a code scan but does your car get up to temp (90).

Thanks for the replies.

Sounds like I need the codes read.

I live in Ampthill in Bedfordshire. If there is anyone around here that could help me out, I'd really appreciate it.

Fuel supply check is quick and easy chap and could save a lot of time. Try the quick win stuff first
