I need a wheel nut key please

Post by flantoons » Fri Oct 19, 2018 4:51 pm

I have lost the wheel nut key for my 2003 Passat.
How can I get one online? what can I look for?
My dealer wants to charge me 73 pounds, too steep!!
I attach pic of the hole.

Probably best going to a tyre place and get them to remove it and replace with a standard bolt. Let's be real why do standard alloys need locking nuts
03 Passat tdi AVB Silver standard apart from egr delete - main drive
lots of other vag tdi's - because theres nothing better

Thanks for your answers....but my question is:
Should I buy this from Amazon £10, if it's compatible ?(see foto)
Then I can remove the old bolts myself without the cost of going to garage.
I'm a poor bloody pensioner.

There will be slight variations in the keys and nuts so chances of getting the same one is pretty slim, unless you know the key code.
Best bet is to get them off and just put standard bolts back on

Agree 100%.

After the second 'security bolt' failed on my car and had to be removed forcefully by a tyre place I replaced all of them with standard bolts. They are a damned nuisance!

Indecently, there are ten variations of the splined key/bolt, so if you buy a whole new set you have a 1 in 10 chance that the new key will fit the existing bolts. Not very good odds at all.
