So after a 100 mile trip back from Northfield, Birmingham AT 53MPG I too some photos to establish a starting point. There is a fair bit of work required to get her how I want her and thats near on mint so lets make a start...
So by now your probably thinking....."Who on earth would do that?!??"
Boy let me tell you the pictures make it look ALOT better than it actually is! The last owner I think literally rattle cann'd over any exposed rust he/she saw - no prep...NOTHING!
So a list of jobs so far in no particular order (just using numbers as easier...)
1)Cambelt, tensioners and waterpump
2)Flush coolant and use Antifreeze
3)Coolant Temp Sensor
4)Replace Manifold Pressure Sensor
5)Replace Gear Selector
6)Replace Dog-Bone Bottom engine Mount - knocks like hell on start-up
7)Decent full service - been advised I use semi-synthetic as engine has done over 100k
8)Replace leaky oil cooler o-ring seal
9)Overhaul all bushes - ARB, Audi TT Wishbone etc.
10)Genuine smoked GTi rear lights
11)Replace passenger rear light cluster as dodgy earth
12)Replace drivers front arch-liner
13)Sort out bodywork - Cut out rear passenger arch, weld in new, filler and spray
14)Sort out bodywork - Remove windscreen to tackle rust above windscreen
15)Sort out bodywork - Replace drivers wing
16)Replace front right and left ABS sensors
17)Fit engine covers and undertrays
18)Sort out clunking drivers-door hinge
19)Sort out bodywork - Acid-dip the wheels and anthracite them
20)Fit H7 HID's for improved visibility
21)Sort out dodgy windscreen wiper linkages as current 'rest' position is halfway up the screen!
22)Fit double din and cupholders into dash
23)Sort out bodywork - repaint sills factory red
24)Tint windows B-Pillar to B-Pillar
25)REtro-fit Cruise Control
and lastly give the car a complete detail inc. wetvac (remove entire interior etc.)
