B5.5 estate Murderation [187] Headlights tinted

Post by Wayne Campbell »

Owned this since 2008 and just been doing bits and bobs on it.

Its on AP coilovers, Polished 18X8 single piece OZ opera wheels.

8K HID kit. and thats about it.

this gets used every day, but just fancied making it a bit of something to look at.

How she stood at Edition38 last year

Since then i've realised that I haven't seen too many murdered out Passats, so thought why not!

First job was LaminX rear lights (sorry about iphone photos from here on in :-bd )

and there was enough lift over, i decided to do the side repeaters too:

Off came the slightly worse for wear 18's (got caught out with the snow last year  and they're currently away for a fresh black powdercoat.

In the mean time, instead of spray, i decided to vinyl the chrome trim around the windows and front grill:

one side finished

i forgot pictures of the grill, but you get the idea.

i had some vinly left over, so had a brain wave with the rub strips. heres a small test area:

i was pretty pleased, and ordered up some more vinyl, with the results looking like this:

so about £30 and five hours work versus god knows how much for painting! I'm pleased, plus i prefer doing stuff myself.

and here's how it looked parked in the village the other day:

Just waiting on the wheels to come back all shiny and new now.

Next steps are:
WASH THE DAMN THING!!!!
De-wiper rear (which I'm onto in about half an hour)
25mm-30mm spacers, and get the front coils down a bit more.
Matt black all lower plastics
Tints
Source a WW2 pineapple grenade for a bit of gear knob action
re-trim the headliner and pillars in black suede (already sourced stretchy faux suede)
look into sourcing a black leather interior.

and i think thats it for now.

I'll try to keep this up to date as best i can :D
