Hello from a newbie

Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum and thinking of buying a Passat Estate preferably a facelift B6 Highline. I like the looks the and the features, my main concern is the reliability and whether I should go Japanese as I can't really cope with big repair bills at this time of life. I would prefer a diesel as i prefer the torque and the economy.
I used to be mad about VW when younger and have owned a MK2 Golf Driver when younger and had a company car Golf GTi Turbo MKIV around the year 2000 which I loved. I have not had a VW since then but plenty of other cars including, BMW, VOLVO, SAAB, Renault, Peugeot, Nissan. I think the estate is the most practical for me and the family at this stage of life and I really like the look. So I am looking forward to finding out more before taking the plunge.
