Sadly my landrover discovery has succumbed to the old rust monsters so I find myself in the market for a new car, my partner's beetle is maintained by a nice independent vw/audi guy and has sourced me a b5.5 passat estate, 1.9 sport 130
I came looking for a good reliable motor, big enough to lug gear around so here I am. As much as I loved the landy it is really nice to have a nice quiet, safe, warm dry ride!!
Outstanding issues that will need looking at and from looking here they're all pretty standard!!
NSR door lock doesn't lock with the central locking
Driver's door turns on light when open and "open door" warning light but the headlight/key buzzer doesn't work
Brake "moan" when reversing (I've seen it referred to as a "Wookie" noise lol)
Bit of rust on wheel arches
Radio doesn't pick up any stations
None of them very serious so am very pleased so far especially with the sheer power now under my foot (I am coming from a 2000 plate Landy after all) and the fuel efficiency so far.
