kerbing alloys

why is it, that when you get a really nice set of rims that you want to look after and not kerb, you cant help but kerb them?

my AMG's looked new 6mths ago, now the drivers one is kerbed twice, the drivers rear had a large stone chip in the dish and loong kerb mark and the same on the other front wheel

ive never kerbed about my wheels until i got these and i'd never kerbed a set either
