1st ting you need id a lot of wd40 or similar. i used a 200mm tin per side but it also done all the bolts per side (track rod end etc etc)
2nd thing a hammer not to big
3rd thing a deep 16mm
4th thing a drill and wire brush adapter
1st clean up the threads with your wire brush attachment until their nice and clean
i even done my brake nipple just for future
then wd40
ok undo the nut and soak with wd40 everywhere on the pinch bolt leave for 5 mins then get your hammer and tap around the body of where the bolt is to try free the bolt off then spray again give it a few more taps with your hammer then tighten the bolt up dont tighten to tight but tight enough that it dose its job, do this to both sides then take the car a small drive then park up and leave it untill the next day(maybe two days)
ok so day 2 or 3 jack up wheel off loosen the bolt with your 16mm on the nut side, turn the steering wheel untill the bolt is free from the arch but not to much as it may cause extra pressure ( maybe? ) then with your 16mm on the nut start hitting it with your hammer it wont happen with the 1st hit so be patient and try avoid hitting it to hard, (a couple taps around the housing of the bolt again may help)
know after a while it should go just keep it wet with wd40 but not to much and whack away remembering not as hard as you can as you dont want to damage anything. when it starts to go you will feel/see it move and the nut will be flush with the housing.
when the bolt is right out the opposite side get your drill with wire brush attachment and clean it up
once thats done a good spray of wd40 will help and then get your 16mm on the nut end and tighten in up, you should notice the other end drawing back in DO IT SLOWLY AND KEEP IT WET due to friction it will get hot and if you force it it will snap. so if it gets tight stop loosen the bolt and tap it back through from the nut end with your 16mm and clean and wire brush again. keep doing this a couple times until you can draw the bolt back in remembering to take your time as you dont want it getting too hot and snapping. after you have it so its loose enough to move back and forward loosen off the nut and get the 16mm on the opposite end put your ratchet on the loosen setting and try turn the bolt so it turns use wd40 again and if its tight dont force it if its tight repeat tapping it back and forward until the bolt is free enough to turn then job done it should tap all the way out.
it worked for me and the bolts looked like they were from factory it did take time roughly 30mins tapping each side
ps wd40 is the helping hand in this and the cleaner you get the threads the easier it should free off
nice simple way of freeing seized top pinch bolts
