PD injector selection

Post by desertstorm »

This is basically a place to put a word document that I have compiled with information on PD injectors.
Injector stuff.doc
If you are looking to change or uprate your existing injectors then this may be of some use.Especially when surfing around on Ebay.
Some of the information is duplicated in the document
If for instance the injectors in your car are 038130073AR ( You can see the VW part number by taking off the cam cover and looking on the injector itself ) these are the injectors in my car.
From the document you can see the following info.

0 414 720 214 PDE-P1.1/80/520S214 VW/ AUDI 038130073AR Passat 1.9 TDI 4 Motion/ A4, A6 TDI Avant AVF/ AWX

0 414 720 214 is the Bosch part number.
PDE -P 1.1 is the version or model of the injector. There are several different versions but they can all pretty much be swapped around. The difference comes in that certain files in the ECU need to be changed to accomodate the internal design differences. They have different pop pressures or the pre injection phase is different.

The 80 means the injector has an 8mm plunger. they are either usually 75 or 80 so 7.5 or 8.0mm.

The next 3 characters determine the flow rate. The bigger the number the better,I believe it is CC per minute.
The last digits are the same as the last 3 digits of the Bosch part code.

So looking to upgrade I bought some injectors used in the PD150 Golf and the PD160 Seat Cupra the

0 414 720 039 PDE-P1.3/80/550S39 VW(VOLKSWAGEN) 038130073AL Golf IV, Passat, Bora 1.9 TDI 4 Motion ASZ/ ARL/ AVF

These are a different model and have different BIP files and flow 550cc instead of 520cc.
So in theory although the difference is small in flow you would think that you could just swap them and have no major issues. Unfortunately to get them working correctly you need to remap the ECU.

To keep to the same injector type and upgrade the following would do this

0 414 720 229 PDE-P1.1/80/550/229 VW(VOLKSWAGEN) 038130073BJ
