Decoding the option codes & Vin

Post by boneybradley »

As a few may know I currently have my 1999 B5 SE which has lots of factory options fitted and I wondered what the codes in my hand book meant so I found this site, where you simply type in the codes and it gives you a list

link http://igorweb.org/equidec/Default.aspx

here's what mine translated too
X2B = National sales program Great Britain
B0N = Component parts set, complying with vehicle type for Great Britain, various parts
C0V = Steel wheels 6J x 15
G0C = 5-speed manual transmission
H6S = Tires 195/65 R15 V
J1P = Battery 220 A (44 Ah)
M9L = 4-cyl. gasoline engine 1.8 L/110 kW 20V turbo, MVEG 2 base engine is T8B/T8C
Q2J = Comfort front seats
1AH = Electronic differential lock (EDL)
1G2 = Steel spare wheel with original equipment tires
1MN = Wood sports steering wheel
5RV = Right exterior mirror: aspherical
5SJ = Left exterior mirror: convex
T8B = 4-cylinder gasoline engine 1.8 L unit 058.D
3S0 = Without roof rails/roof load rack
8TD = Rear fog light for driving on the left
QG2 = No possibility of activating service interval prolongation
8AD = Radio "gamma"
8GD = Alternator 90A
8RM = 8 speakers (passive)
1LB = Disc brakes, front
0JG = Weight category front axle weight range 7
0YC = Weight range 3 installation control only, no requirement forecast
1BA = Standard suspension/shock absorption

I was expecting more as mine has cruise control and full heated leather (the list just shows "Comfort front seats") but both are on the original sales receipt, So I guess codes don't apply to all options?

There is a also comprehensive code list on this site too (although it only does them 1 at a time!) http://vag-codes.info/vag-option-codes (there's also a fault code list on there too)
