B8 upgrade to apple carplay and maps

Hi all. Can someone let me know if I can upgrade my 2015 radio to the apple carplay one?
My one only has the mirrorlink. (Which I haven't unlocked) so I don't know if I can software update it etc?
Or so need a new unit?
