Kenwood head unit resetting each use (DPX 406 DAB)

Post by phy8dop »

Hi. I have just installed the above DAB head unit.

Each time I turn it on it is asking me the language and if I want to enter "demo mode"

I assume that this is not normal. It seems to me that the permanent live is not working.

In the installation manual it says that for "some VW's and Vauxhalls" it is necessary to switch the red and yellow wires which I believe are the permanent 12v and the ignition switched 12v.

While it seems to me that I am not getting a permanent 12v, I am not sure if wire switching is my problem. Surely if the permanent 12v were switching off, then it would also mean that I had permanent 12v going to the switched 12v terminal and the stereo would be on permanently?

I suppose I need to get my multimeter out......

I was just wondering if this note is common to all/other Kenwood stereos and if anyone had encountered it before?
