Best Price Component Speakers that are easy to fit!

I've upgraded to a Kenwood CD Player - might need to change this since I would really like to add a little extra bass so presume I need RCA Preout to drive a Sub.

I'm a bit unsure where to go here - budget is limited but don't just want a bass heavy system.

I thought some component speakers and maybe a 10" sub would be ok. I'm into Rock and "proper music" - play guitar and produce music so I want to be able to really enjoy my journey to work...and back!

Any advice - will the Alpine 1750 components be a good start or is there something better for a little more.

Do I need a bigger sub because it is an estate? Plenty of room but don't want to scare the wife!
