Speaker confusion

In my B5 variant I'm in need of a decent sound system

I want a DVD/screen in the dash, no issues with that, it's the speakers that confuse me.

I'm going to go for components in the front doors, and probably another set in the back. I don't really want to fit a sub in the boot as I use it for all of my kitesurfing and snowboarding gear. I was thinking of maybe 6x9's tucked away in the back, but don't really know what that will achieve.

I don't want a system that means everyone within 100 yards will be offended by my music just a good quality sound that goes loud enough for me the passengers and I.

Any suggestions?
