I just done speaker upgrade, :ymhug:

I used vibe slick 6,
(£30 per pair on ebay) which are 165mm co-ax( built in tweeters), purely because of cost and I wanted an easy job.
and also kept the original tweeters.
Sounds great with my original vw cd radio.
Technically I got double the tweets now but it sounds just fine and doesn't overwhelm or spoil the sound at all. I still have the treble turned up as usual.

I used the autoleads adapter kit from Halfords,
(Which is listed for b5 & not b5.5 by model years)
I had to cut the rubber on the back of door card as it doesn't get over the lip on the new adapters. But u could just omit that ring as it just clips off.

Door card rubber sealing rings:
I was in a rush on front doors, because I originally dived into this job as I had the door open to replace driver's window regulator and door lock as it worked intermittently.
& omitted the rubber rings,
I did the back doors on a different day and carefully cut them to still seal, but to be honest I can't tell the difference in sound.

& btw, I did take time to seal every empty hole (broken/missing clips) on the metal door card with duct tape & aluminium ducting tape I had lying around.

One, maybe both, my rear speakers (the 6.5's) are 'farting' with any bass at all..
Depending on how the next few weeks pans out with the old barge I'll be upgrading too..
