More diesel poo

Post by Gazwould » Sat Apr 07, 2018 9:17 am

An undercover investigation into how British hauliers are using hi-tech devices and computerised hacking to disable the emissions controls on their vehicles, which worsens our air quality, all to save themselves money. Experts say the premature deaths of 23,000 people each year in the UK are linked to the types of dangerous gases produced by HGV diesel engines, and the programme demonstrates how vehicles that have had their emissions systems modified produce far higher levels of dangerous pollutants .

The gubberment (of whatever colour) - Taxes the motorist (of all types) until their pips literally squeak under the guise of polluton.

Also the gubberment (of whatever colour) - Let's build more airports and runways and have even more polluting planes cluttering up our airpsace without batting an eyelid.

Some old truck engine designs run really dirty, over fuelling to get torque etc.

Unfortunately these do-gooder socilaist hacks are only interested in the exposure of the scandal, and itll be further ammunition to hurt us all financially.

Lets see an expose of all the public transport contracted bus and civil authority vehicle pools doing the same thing, because many of them are too, but no, lets attack more private businesses.

I'm wandering how busses been tested, are they going somewhere to do mot test or it's just done at their garage. For example stagecoach busses( not the latest ones ) are smoking that badly when moving of, that you can't see number plate through that thick black cloud left behind. That pollution is far more than somthing you can see from lorries or private cars. And need to remember that these busses are going across city centre all day long.

And carrying many people at once each trip, so your argument isn't the strongest.

But pollution is pollution no matter how many people the bus is carrying.

It cannot be had both ways.

And on the roads many magnitudes of time greater than a vehicle carrying a handful of passengers :P

The argument here isnt which is the worst evil, its the use of legality to punish and levy taxes, and thats always aimed at the greatest source of revenue which is the individual motorist and private business. If there was no safety or environmental argument the whole thing wouldnt be anywhere near as exploited by government.

Bus firms should pay the proportion of VED revenue that their restricted lanes theyre provided rob away from the paying motorist, lets see how many people would be on the bus then if they had to pay a fair share of the road. And if its such a big deal to get public busses through why is there no allowance for commercial vehicles or 2+ or 3+ vehicles, so called commuter lanes, if goods vehicles also had access there would be a marked pollution benefit right there!

If politicians and other groups really cared about the issues more than the funds levvied they would be proactive, approach the manufactures at design stage and see what improvements could be incentive driven rather than waiting to exploit a situation which is of their own making.

I care about the environment, but I dont agree with any more taxation either, Im sick of being stealth taxed to the bone and it needs to stop.

Like the sugar tax, dont make the fat little sprogs exercise just tax the sugar more, thats like thinking curing herion addiction is possible by putting the price up!

You didn't catch my meaning. Those busses were not smoking at all like two years ago, it's more about technical condition not what and how much they are carrying.
