Audi A6 Avant Questions

Post by fluke » Thu Apr 05, 2018 9:22 pm

How bad are the Audi CVT gearboxes?

And.......

2.5 V6 fuel pump and cams, just how bad to do and costs?

I'm looking for a bit more in depth info.

I assume the pump is old style diesel pump?

That engine fitted with that gearbox, you need to have very deep pockets.

Saying that, if it has manaaged to survive the scrapper this long it might be immune and you might be lucky.... But you'd still need very deep pockets for the very many just in cases that it could throw at you.

The one in my a6 had done 150k when i sold it and it was still smooth as silk.
Had a lot of automatics and that box was well like silk as it never changes gear plus it made for better MPG as well.
40k oil changes i think is the answer.

No, that was the Alltrack A6.

Just going back to my words of warning... a high, high risk punt there with a known weak engine and a known weak gearbox but....... If it was all working as it should, I bet that car would be a lovely thing...... just keep the Passat as a back up car!

It was soooo smooth and went well if you wanted it to.
