VW Connect - Dataplug

Hiya
What do we know about VW handing out the above (free at the moment) - pros - cons or useful addition to the armoury?
Flicking through the leaflet that came with it seems to offer some benefits but also could be intrusive - via offering to mark the car in a car park, journeys etc.
